Strategy

Every campaign has an Election Day.We plan back from it.

Elections, strike votes, bills and hearings all get decided on a date. We work out what it takes to win by then, write the plan and check it every week. Campaign strategy and advice from people who know how to win against the odds.

01What you get

A number, a plan to hit it, and a weekly check.

Every plan we write answers three questions: what it takes to win, how you get there and whether it's working.

  • /01

    The target

A vote target per riding. Off the ballot it's the same idea: the members you need on a strike vote, or the steps a file has to clear.

  • /02

    The contact plan

Doors, phones and digital, sized to hit the target and measured every night against it.

  • /03

    The message

What you say, who you say it to and the research behind both.

  • /04

    Opposition research

What the other side will say about you, and what's on the record about them, checked before anyone uses it.

  • /05

    The budget and calendar

Money and time, laid out week by week, back from the day it's decided.

  • /06

    The weekly check

A plain answer, every week, on where you stand against the target. Close doesn't count.

02By field

Same method, another kind of file.

Not every win comes at a ballot box. Same team, same platform, same method: find the day it's decided and work back from it.

  • Campaigns

Path to victory, message and E-Day plan, with Estuary mapping the race down to the poll.

  • Unions

Bargaining, organizing drives and political action, planned like an election and tracked on the same platform.

  • Government relations

How the decision gets made, the case to make at each step, and a warning from Estuary when your file moves.

  • Corporate

An early warning on an issue, a plain read on how serious it is, and what to say if it lands.

Every practice, field by field
03How we run it

We advise your war room or run it.

Either way the work goes in the same order, with one team from the first map to the last poll.

  1. 01

    Research

Past results, demographics, polling and the opposition, mapped down to the poll. On a file: the record so far, who has a stake in it and the timeline.

  2. 02

    Data

We set the target and fit Estuary to your race or your file: maps, field tracking and media monitoring.

    Estuary
  3. 03

    Persuasion

What you say, who says it and to whom, built on what the research found.

  4. 04

    Execution

Doors, phones and digital, checked every week against the returns, the canvass and the coverage. If the plan isn't moving votes, we change the plan, even when that means spending less with us.

  5. 05

    Win

Pull lists, poll-by-poll turnout and a live board until the last poll closes. A strike vote, a bill or a hearing gets the same countdown.

04Issues and crisis

Hear it before the reporter calls.

When an issue or a crisis lands, we help you decide what to say and when. Our team watches news, radio and TV, so you hear about the story before reporters call, not after.

  • Before

We watch the coverage on your race, your file or your company, and tell you what's starting to move.

  • When it lands

What to say, who says it and when. One line, agreed fast, said the same way by everyone.

  • After

We read the coverage back, tell you whether the line held and adjust the plan.

How our team reads the waters
05The record

No victories on paper.

What counts is whether the election is won, the union campaign comes through or the issue gets done. This is the work we can publish. If yours is a bargaining table, a file or a company issue, ask us how the same method applies.

    Burnaby's 2026 council race

Re-elected while Metro Vancouver threw out incumbents.

In 2026 voters across Metro Vancouver threw out incumbents, and seven cities changed mayors. Burnaby went the other way. We showed the Burnaby Citizens Association where its voters were and sent its volunteers where they counted, and BCA won seven of eight council seats and every school board seat.

06How to start

What happens when you call.

Strategy works on its own. It works better with the rest of the team.

  1. 01

    Book a briefing

Tell us the race, the file or the company, and the date it's decided.

  2. 02

    A plain read

We tell you plainly what it would take and what we'd do first.

  3. 03

    Your call

Advice to your team, or one of us running it. Add the rest of the team when you need it.
